Merimee is one of the most famous writers in the nineteenth Century in French.Unconventionally, His stories are fascinating and the worlds are full of exotic flavor.This paper analyzes Merimee’s novelette by narrative theories. Firstly,we use theconcepts such as zero focalization, fixed internal focus and multiple internalfocalization, in order to illuminate the narrative effect which is formed by differentnarrative focalization. Secondly, through the narrative breakpoint includinginformation delay and information suppression, we inquiry the way in which theworks were written. Finally, we discuss unreliable narration in these texts to expressthe Merimee’s true intent. This paper’s author attempts to open a new train of thoughtto expand research about Merimee’s works.
