During the process of acquiring a second language, errors would come along with the learners, especially with the minorities. As a major group of minority, Mongolians have their ownlanguage in both spoken and written forms. In recent years, most of the research of EA inChina have taken Chinese as the subjects to observe their process of making errors. There isbarely any research on the minority English learners. Nearly all the research aboutMongolians’ learning English chose their subjects in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.Compared with the research previously done, this study will be a new endeavor. It focuses onthe Mongolian and Chinese bilingual English learners in the Heilongjiang province. Theauthor will collect the samples, categorize them and analyze them so as to identify theirspecific problems and difficulties in learning English. There are three main research findings:(1) intralingual errors are the main source of errors in Mongolian non-English major collegestudents’ English writing.(2) Mongolian non-English major college students’ English learningis mostly interfered by Chinese. Chinese transfer plays a much larger part than Mongoliantransfer does.(3) Errors on syntax are most likely to be committed by the Mongoliannon-English major college students’ from Mongolian interference, followed by the errors onlexis and the morphology.
