A Hypothesis On Alternative Reaction Of Counseling Psychology

This study was focus on the common element of psychological counseling. According tothis study, we analyzed and compared several psychological counseling theory and method,and extracted a possible existence curative effect factor, which has been named as thehypothesis of alternative reaction. Then we decomposed the alternative reaction as fivemutual connected parts, which we identified them as awareness; cognitive processing; identity;purpose; purpose behavior. These five parts together with environment and cognitive processmade up a recycling interaction and this kind of interaction cause different behavior and affect.In other word, alternative reaction together with environment and cognitive process causedifferent behavior and affect. Several psychological counseling theories have already workingon these components, and their target was to change the alternative reaction of their clients.Although different theoretical orientation always chose different part to start with, they stillworking on the alternative reaction cycle, or one component of alternative reaction.According to this paper, we inspect several theoretical schools and summarize theirscommon factors, which strongly support the alternative reaction hypothesis. We analysis thedifferent words which used in different theoretical context, and told that to some degree, theyhave the same meaning. Meanwhile the author analyses several specific therapies, and showhow alternative reaction work in a therapy. Based on these analyses, we constructed thealternative reaction hypothesis.
