Attachment is a tendency that individuals establish strong emotional bonds withspecial and significant others. Attachment can provide safe and comfortable feelingsfor the individual. It has two dimensions including attachment anxiety and attachmentavoidance.Perfectionism is a multidimensional personality trait including positive(high standards)component and negative(discrepancy)component.Alarge numberof studies show that the attachment will affect the formation of perfectionism, andthen affect the level of depression. The study of relationship among attachment, perfectionism and depression will help researchers understand the formationmechanism of perfectionism, and provid a new idea about how to reduce the level ofdepression of the individuals with the personality trait of perfectionism. We use threesacles including Close Relationships Inventory (ECR), Almost Perfectionism ScaleRevised Chinese Revised (APS-R-CR),and Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) tomeasure469undergraduate students, and use SPSS12.0and Lisrel8.70to analyzethe data.My dissertation is divided into three parts.1.The correlation analysis of attachment, perfectionism and depression, preliminary exploring the relationship among the three.2.The Regression analysis of attachment, perfectionism and depression, preliminary exploring the mechanism of attachment affect the formation ofperfectionism and then affect the level of depression.3.The mediating effect of perfectionism between attachment and depression, respectively, in the case of control and non-control the interaction of the positivecomponent and negative component of perfectionism, to explore the mediating effectof perfectionism between attachment and depression.More clearly andcomprehensively presenting the relationships of the three, also further exploring therole of attachment in the formation of perfectionism. The main results are as follows.1.Attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance is significantly positive correlatewith discrepancy, significantly positive correlate with depression; discrepancy issignificantly positive correlate with depression.2.The level of individual’s attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance canpredict the level of his discrepancy and depression, the level of individual’sdiscrepancy can predict the level of his depression.3. Discrepancy partly mediates the relationship between attachment anxiety and depression, discrepancy totally mediates the relationship between attachmentavoidance and depression.
