Analysis On Gefei’s Path Towards Traditional Culture

Writer Gefei, the main force of pioneer literature back in80s last century, nowbecoming focus of the literary world again, due to the launch of three novels, after his tenyears long interval. Meanwile as a scholar, he also has down some success on the literarytheory. This paper attempts to explore Gefei’s tendency to revert to traditional culture andits significance through the observation and analysis of his entire works, the main focuswould be on his recent novel writing and literary theory.The paper composed by two parts, main body of three chapters and the conclusion.The first chapter sorts out Gefei’s literary activities in phases through the observation ofhis whole performance till now. And it tells the formation of Geifei’s theory base on thatand then defines traditional culture and explores Gefei’s attitude on it. The second chapteris based on the first chapter and centered by Gefei’s theory represented in <The invitationof literature>. It analyzes the creative revert of his work and explores his neo-traditionalcultural character. The third chapter and the most important chapter in depth researchGefei’s novels and the shushu culture, Confucius culture, daoism culture and shiqingculture. It then analyzes Gefei’s mutual influences between his work and theory. Theconclusion part points out Gefei’s limits and weakness. But still affirms his success ofreverting to the traditon.This paper doesn’t emphasize on the meaning of Gefei’s revert to traditional culture,because the meaning of national culture and its resevation is in no doubtness. The keypoint is the form of how to do it.‘The heat’ or simply keeping it as a subject are the waysto send our culture to the end, it won’t help anything in this rushing modern society withall its marketing tools. The path of tenderly inheriting the traditional culture of China thatGefei does is a way of hope.
