| Hua Zijing is one of Henan custom song that folk faith men and women sing to worship Godwhen they go to the temple to burn incense. It has a definite impact on people’s religious life. Ithas a new name Huazijing,which is popular with believers all over the temples in Pingdingshan. Ithas strong religious doctrine and local characteristics. Motet is general term of the songs whichsing to declare religious doctrine and its thoughts. Initially Huazijing was sung to declare religiousdoctrine. Believers composed music by themselves, the lyrics reflected traces of dailylife.Therefore it has a strong secular nature. The characters of Huazijing are as follows: long timespan, rich content in lyrics and a large number of folk religious content and deep foundation of themasses.There are some differences between folk music that is composed to worship God andorthodox religion music. Cheerful melody and rhythm reveal the aesthetic ideas of folk believerstowards God. The lyrics of worshiping God and praying for wealth reveal the feature of"Appreciate material gain,Keep ancient custom".The mournful songs are chanted for folk religion gods, through which we can figure out thatthe folk religion was widely spread in the region.In this paper, we describe and analyze the transmission of Motet in Pingdingshan on the basisof preliminary field investigations and documents of Huazijing,indicating that Huazijing is one ofreligious custom songs that have graceful coexistence of the sacred feature and d the profanefeature. |
