For a long time, people have regarded Marxist theory as absolute rationality without anysense of romanticism. The relationship between Marx and romanticism has been concealedand ignored and our understanding of Marx’s historicism has stayed in the narrow layer. Therefore, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to further comprehend Marxistphilosophy from romanticism. The present thesis, from the point of view of Marxist poetry, intends to illustrate the relationship between romanticism and Marxist thought.Philosophy and poetry are in internal harmony, essentially transcendent reality. They arefrom the same god, and full of infinite and absolute pursuit and desire for the future world.Marx is a philosopher with romantic passion. He is fond of writing poems from childhood. Inhis heart of hearts, he has a strong poetic impulse. Faced with antinomy in reality, he finallyturns to the poetry of revolution and the future. In his view, the proletariat is in essence a kindof poem force and communism is a grand romantic poem. Therefore, the poetry is the key tostudy on the evolution of Marxist thought.Romanticism takes emotion and love as a mental origin, focusing on the people’s livingconditions, life experience and spiritual well-being. The most essential characteristic ofromanticism is the criticism of modernity. The Romantics, from spirit level, ridicule thepresent society. In the poetic process of social reality, it will inevitably fall into the lyric’sentimental mood. They place their hopes in the pure spirit. In their mind, there is anomnipotent God. However, human alienation brought by the capitalist industrialization hasmade this God move farther and farther away from us. The mission of Marist is to relocate agod in our life. This god is to shift our vision from God’s perspective into human point ofview, seeking a way out in practice. That is communism. The Romanists has a profound impact on the poetry writing of Marx and himself.Hernia and Marx become friends despite their age difference. There are a lot of romanticimagery and themes in Marx’s poetry, such as: the stars, violin, fire, and storm, which expressMarx’s discontent with the dark society, and reflect his incomparable romantic temperament.Marx undertakes criticism towards romanticism crisis. He maintains the focus of romanticismshould be converted from God to human. Marxist’s transcendence to Romanticism mainly embodies in the fact that he changes the romantic irony into practical philosophy. He carriesout his proletariat irony, from practice, in order to achieve Communism. By doing this, he hasfinished the whole process from the spirit of romanticism to the practice of communism.Utopian socialism is a branch of romanticism, which are critical. The same withcommunism, it is a poetic world with a fierce attack towards capitalism. However, it escapesfrom the reality of the material production, and is doomed to failure. Under the utopiansocialism foundation, Marx establishes Communist society based on practice. Utopiansocialism does not find the basic law of social development, and does not solve the paradoxof existence problem. But Marx succeeds. The communist ideal is not a romantic dream. AsMarx’s romantic critique of logic end-result and history, communism is the end of practicalcritique of Marx.
