Chinese Contemporary Wealth Ethics Research

Wealth is not only an economic concept, but also a concept of ethics and sociology.Therefore, when we define and learn about wealth, we should not only take the economicsview, but also should extend our view to ethics and sociology etc.Wealth is a historicalconcept; and in different historical stages it shows the forms in thousands of ways. Incontemporary society where equal exchange is the characteristics of the socialist marketeconomy, wealth mainly takes the form of currency or money. Wealth has the branch of broadsense and narrow sense, broad sense refers to the human wealth is useful in a wide variety offactors combined, including material and spiritual aspects of the elements; the narrow sense isthe wealth of material wealth. This wealth is to narrow the wealth, the material wealth.Wealth ethics is based on the wealth of correct value orientation, from the moral andethical perspective on people acquisition, possession and use of the total view of wealth andtotal view. On the connotation, wealth ethics mainly have three basic components: the wealthof nature and connotation is of correct understanding and awareness of the environment,create wealth is fair and the methods used were justified, wealth resolution shall takereasonable consumption style. In short, wealth ethics should contain rich wealth values, ethicsand ethics views of consumption in three parts. It is the humanity in the understanding, thecreation and use of process of wealth, reflection between man and man, man and society,between human and nature how to realize the relationship between rationality and harmony ofan ethics thought; is the humanity in the correct understanding of the connotation and essenceof wealth, formed due to become rich and rational consumption and use of wealth thoughtprocesses; or personal, collective and social participation wealth exchanges with the valuebasis and evaluation standard. Therefore, only when the social members recognize ispeople-oriented, wealth or first, to use a fair proper means to acquire wealth, and in favor ofbetween person and person, person and society and between human and nature harmonioussymbiosis between the consumption and the use of wealth, contemporary China can have themodern civilization with considerable wealth and moral level; the socialist market economyof our country to realize the sustainable development of our country society; each system can be perfected, various social function in order to realize a benign operation; to further theimplementation of our society members of the self improvement and development.In contemporary China, the majority of people in the community can be roughly dividedinto rich and the general public. According to the two segments of the wealth ethics presentsituation research discovery, the contemporary Chinese ethics of wealth to the people andsocial effects are divided into positive effect and negative effect two respects. The formerrepresents the desire for wealth promotes the liberation of humanity and free development,inspired the people production and creation enthusiasm, and wealth of the association topromote good social environment; the latter in extreme wealth value alienation of humannature, skewed wealth value hinders social development, what become rich view pollution ofthe environment etc.Contemporary social wealth values of negative orientation are mainly embodied in thefollowing four aspects: the lost wealth values, unfair wealth ethics concept, unreasonableconsumption ethics, and lack of responsibility ethics. Focusing on China’s contemporarysocial environment and analysis of its causes, we draw the conclusion: first, the contemporaryChinese market economy system is not perfect, specifically manifested in the lack of fairdistribution mechanism; second, the contemporary Chinese market economy developmentneeds of the legal system builds apparent lag; third, contemporary social moral valueevaluation criteria are distorted, in people-oriented or take the thing as the value choice, oftenchoose to take the thing as this; fourth, the decadent Western idea and Chinese traditionalculture in the backward idea influence.How to cultivate the contemporary Chinese rational ethics of wealth is a major problem.Its core is to establish the correct and reasonable wealth values, fair wealth ethics as well asrational ethics views of consumption as the main content of the reasonable wealth ethics. Inthe play the wealth ethics value orientation at the same time, complementary with necessarysocial system and national policy support, and eventually promote people’s all-round and freedevelopment of the ultimate goal.
