This thesis intends to find translation strategies of Chinese culture-specific words in filmtranslation projects. Culture-specific words involved in foreign publicity materialstranslation have been arousing more and more attention. Those words directly reflect thecharacteristics of Chinese culture, and if we don’t translate them correctly, they can causemisunderstanding. So how to translate them determines whether we can achieve intendedpurposes. Based on a film translation project undertaken by GIIT Students InternshipCenter, the thesis studied this aspect. With detailed analysis and abundant examples, theauthor tries to clarify the types of Chinese culture-specific words and their translationstrategies. Comparing the draft translation with the revision polishers offered, the authorconcluded that translators should understand that translation is not only the transferencefrom one language to another, but also the information exchange, so translators should catchthe main information and the key information of the text, and the acceptance of targetaudience and the requirements of clients should be taken into account.
