Northeast China is a remarkable region which enjoys nature s treasures andproduces outstanding people. Many of the Northeast minorities have so far retainedthe original etiquettes and customs due to their lifestyles as well as other reasons.Northeast minority customs rely on social customs, belonging to the scope ofinstitutional culture. The folk songs and other musical forms belong to the field ofspiritual culture, which equals that folk songs influence rituals and customs. But manyminority customs are gradually undergoing variation or extinction due to socialchanges. In the vast black field of the Northeast spread the folk music resources of theNortheast minority customs which are both an indispensable part and to-be-developedart treasures of the Northeast cultural resources and an embodiment of the eternalnational spirit and pursuit of aesthetics and ideals. This paper selects Manchu, Korean,Mongolian, Daur, Oroqen as well as other minorities in the Northeast as objects,through research we will identify the characteristics of folk songs in the Northeastminority customs and discover the Northeast minority folk songs resources to provideresearch foundation for the continuity and development of the Northeast folk songs.This paper is divided into five parts.Introduction mainly gives a comprehensive description of research background,contents, research methods and significance of this paper.The first part describes folk songs of the Northeast minorities from historicalpoint of view including two aspects: the historical background and the development offolk songs.The second part analyzes folk songs in the Northeast minority customs mainlyfrom the perspectives of form and characteristics of folk songs in the Northeastminority customs, citing the examples of folk songs in the birth ceremony, birthday,wedding ceremony and funeral.The third part mainly uses the survey method to carry out further analysis of thecurrent situation of the folk songs in the Northeast minority customs; explores livingenvironment of folk artists through field research; analyzes the folk songs which areundergoing Changes in the northeast minority customs from the cultural perspective.The last part identifies an effective way to further develop the Northeast minorityfolk songs and customs through analysis of the case learned in the survey whichindicated good protection of the customs and folk songs, to provide a basis for futureresearch.
