| This paper makes a deeper and more detailed study mainly from three aspects inSu Xun’s political essays. Before beginning these studies, it first discusses the conceptof political essays and counts the number of Su Xun’s political essays. Thus, politicalessays are defined as "the argumentative essays on ancient and modern political,military and other content involving national safety, national economy and people’life" and the number of Su Xun’s political essays is27.In respect to the background of age and the main factors of Su Xun’s politicalessays, the paper discusses it from the following three angles respectively: the socialdevelopment and conflicts of the Northern Song Dynasty, Bashu cultural tradition andfamily origin and Su Xun’s making friends and reading. It argues that the productionof Su Xun’s political essays and high success he achieved are the result of thesefactors.Thoughts and artistic features of Su Xun’s political essays are the focus of thisstudy with most notice and comments. This article attempts to read the texts in detailto avoid general comment on the study in these two areas rather than skim over thesurface; hope to reveal the author’s real feelings and systematic insights in the courseof probing into the texts.As for the thoughts of Su Xun’s political essays, the paper categorizes them intotwo groups: military and politics. In the process of sorting out each category the paperseeks to show their complete framework and clear system so that there is a line tofollow instead of random and scattered pieces. Finally, the paper also presents someinsights on the gains and losses of Su Xun’s political comments on military andpolitics.In the artistic features of Su Xun’s political essays the paper explores it from theseven points of view: conception, verification, metaphor, allusion, language, emotion,force. Emotion being closely related to force, they are integrated in the same section.When coming to each specific point of view, the paper seeks to select the most typicalessay and summarizes their inherent logic so that the presentation of material canfulfill its duties to the best instead of presenting chaos and confusion to the readers. |
