In the field of Chinese contemporary children’s literature, Bao dongni, a prolific femalewriter with strong creation strength, is not only dedicated to creating various styles ofliterature works for children, but also propping up a blue sky belonging to children for themto enjoy freedom and fantasy. Her writings include children fairy tales, fictions and picturebooks. The exposition in this dissertation is mainly based on analyzing her representativeworks. Through the research method, close reading, the author of this dissertation intends toanalyze her writings, rearrange, synthesize and dig out the deep meaning of her works.Meanwhile, in order to obtain a more rigorous, objective and impersonal research result, theauthor analyze the writer, her life and her works in the background of the progress of Chinesechildren’s literature. This paper consists of four parts:The first part focuses on discussing the writer’s feelings toward her childhood and folkculture. The author analyzes writer’s works through the following aspects: reminiscent mood,reflection on her childhood, Peking charm and the folk affection. The analysis reveals thewriter’s extraordinary skills in choosing writing materials and making writings artistry. Thesecond part is aimed at expounding the theme of coexistence of love and growth throughingeniously depicting childhood imagination, the love of art and dreamland. In addition, thispart specifically elaborate that baby’s growth just like a fairy tale, the attitude toward littleanimals, the fear of children and the pantheistical thought. The three points mentioned abovereflect the unique style of dongni’s writings. The third section mainly depicts dongni’s "jadeanalytical fairy tale of the kingdom”. Chapter Three and Chapter Two constitute the mainbody part of the thesis. The construction of the fairy tale world consists of the idea of theecological awareness and existence, fresh and poetic fairy tale, the protagonist’s vivid image,and the novelty of the narrative form. In addition, in her works, the interpretation of magic,the variety of the caster, the ingenuity of the nomination, the vivid images of the characters, aunique narrative angle and strategy add brilliance to her writings. These features, as key pointof the work, deserve being analyzed in this thesis. The last chapter focuses on analyzingdongni’s thought about childhood, the permeation of maternal love in her works, the growthenvironment and the natural thought of children to help the author of the paper to have a deepinsight into dongni’s literature idea.
