Harold Pinter, an excellent British dramatist in20th century, won the "Noble Prize in Literature" in2005, which has brought worldwide attention to Harold Pinter and his plays.Harold Pinter is considered as an absurdist dramatist, because his early plays with rich colors of absurdism were called "the comedy of menace". But realism was clearly shown in his later dramas, in which realism was perfectly combined with absurdity. Because of this, Harold Pinter’s style, which is named "Pinteresque", cannot be summarized simply as "absurdity"Harold Pinter and his plays are entered China with the introduction and research of the theater of the absurd. In the90s, growing academic characteristics and value were shown in the research on Harold Pinter and his plays, not only in theoretical fruits but also in practical achievements. But it is still a pity that there are inadequate theoretical researches in the practice of Harold Pinter’s plays in Chinese drama. This paper is intended to find the possibility of their spread and the cause of their popularity with people in China by analyzing Harold Pinter and the style of his plays.
