After the flourish at the end of Wei Jin, the cursive script recessed, yet revived in the Tang Dynasty from Sun guoting to Mid-Tang so as to the calligraphy expressive force displays to the maximum in the unconstrained cursive script. Tang dynasty cursive Renaissance commenced in Sun guoting who finished inheriting the calligraphy of Wei Jin dynasty and also reflects the ethos of the new period, which has significant and positive influence on the cursive development of later ages. For Sun’s contribution to the cursive script, people tend to pay closer attention to "Shupu", but rarely noticed his "Qianziwern in cursive style" that represents the new tendency of techniques and styles, afterwards leading to a rapid development in the tang dynasty, which at last formed a new paradigm that differs from that of Wei jin. The subsequent cursive script can be classified as rational writing of Wei jin and emotional writing of Tang. This paper is to do an in-depth research of Sun guoting’s the cursive script of "fifth version of Qianziwen, on behalf of the prototype of the subsequent cursive scripts, by tracing back to the origins of technique and style and arguing on the undeniable relations of technique and style. And it does not only display the relationship of Sun guoting and the cursive script of Tang dynasty, also provides the reference to contemporary calligraphy.
