Select Mussorgsky’s piano suite "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Ravel’sorchestral "Pictures at an Exhibition" as the object of study, in the background of thetimes, on two different composers retrospective ideological and cultural origins, stylecharacteristics,in-depth analysis, which reflects the different meanings based on thesame topic two musical works embodied.Two composers’"Pictures at an Exhibition" can be described as a model ofinnovation in the art of music, Mussorgsky’s piano suite "Pictures at an Exhibition"bold and innovative in harmony, and phrasing, played a piano timbre characteristics ofthe voice of the life with the vivid piano performance, piano musical expression ofgreat significance, at the same time having a profound impact on the development ofmusic in the20th century. The orchestral color master Ravel’s "Pictures at anExhibition" by the clever mix of different musical instruments, sound, sound effects,playing techniques are presented for the audience a unique style that is different fromthe original, can be described as orchestral works model. This paper through theanalysis, comparison of the two versions of "Pictures at an Exhibition" musicontology, dig out the music show features different music genres.
