Importing books from overseas will certainly benefit the growth of China’spublishing industry, since well-written foreign books will add to the readings ofChinese readers and broaden their horizon with valuable resources. Thus translationof the copyright books turns out to be very crucial. Guided by relative theories andprinciples, translators are to be faithful to the original works and put them into thetarget language using various techniques so as to enable readers to enjoy them inChinese.This translation project works on Roderick Jones’s Conference InterpretingExplained, a practical academic book well received and acclaimed by amateur as wellas professional interpreters.The report is a discussion of problems encountered and experiencesaccumulated during translation. Guiding principles and useful techniques areinvestigated for more efficient way of handling translation and more accuraterendering of the original. In addition, it covers the presentation of how to conductproject teamwork, employ online resources and dictionaries. The last part offersreflections on the translation process, the translator’s own considerations from theperspective of promoting a translator’s competence and work ethics.
