Expanding to Red Sea was the important part of foreign policies of Mussolini.afterthe world war1, Italy witnessed economic depression, serious workersunemployment,sharp social contradictions, as well as nationalism’s popularization forthe unimplemented promise from France and Britain to Italy during world war1. Inthis condition mentioned above, Italian fascism rose. For the sake of eliminating crisisat home and abroad, Mussolini, after his being in power, formulated series ofexpansionist policies to Red Sea, which covered military penetration, politicaloppression, economy exploitation, and bloody social policies and so on, whichdetailed in terms of eliminating nationality of occupied nations, massacring educatedyoung men from colony, combining administrative organization and brutalizing theoccupied areas, attempting to make Red Sea as Italy’s colony and zone of influence.Initially, Mussolini, successfully maximized his colonies overseas and climbed upto the top of power and glory, with the internationally popular appeasement, bysounding out the international response through board conflicts with Ethiopia in theoriginal period of expanding to Red Sea,For more interests, Mussolini allied with German and declared war against Franceand Britain because of his wrong reckon on international situation, resulted in the totalloss of his proceeds in neutral diplomacy, as well as the transfer of Britain, UnitedStates and France to antifascist from appeasement, adding the resistance at home ofItaly and local constant battle in Red Sea, of all the factors above leaded Italy’seast-Africa empire to ruin. Otherwise, ill deterioration of the internal situation of Italyfor its military failure in Africa, leadership’s inner division resulted from alliance’slanding onto Sicily as well as Mussolini’s downfall forced by overthrow by highpro-Anglo-American proportion, jointly plunged Mussolini’s policy on Red Sea tofinal breakthrough.This thesis is made up of three chapters, including introduction, main body ofthree parts and conclusion.In this chapter of Introduction, there will be a main review on the currentresearch situation, research methods and creative points of this paper,which isrelevant with the Mussolini`s expansionist policy on Red Sea.The first part will be an analysis on the background of Mussolini`s expansionist policy on Red Sea from both the domestic elements and the external ones.The second part is about the details on Italy`s expansion to Red Sea, the authorwill detail the process of invasion into Red Sea and control on east-Africa colonywhich then belonged to Italy, in which the features of Mussolini`s expansion anddomination will be highlighted.The third part will discuss the bankrupt of Italy`s expansion to Red Sea.Analyzing on the expansionist policy on Red Sea from Italy`s domestic factors,international ones and Italian military, the author will draw a conclusion that theexpansionist policy is unfavorable rather than being favorable for Mussolini.Conclusion: in this chapter, the author will repeat the viewpoint by making anarrange and summary.
