Throughout the foreign temperament research, temperament began with the study of children’s temperament in the middle of the twentieth century, which drove a various of temperament research on different hypothesis. Temperament regulation theory that is famous in adult temperament study is one among them, based at it a series of new physiological and ERP study emerge. Looking back at progress of our country’s temperament research, it isn’t difficult to discover that temperament study on children is much more mature than adult’s. It may prevent the development of adult temperament research. Therefore, this research aims at developing the questionnaire on Chinese adult temperament, and does the following studies:This study is based on FCB-TI compiled by Strelau, takes the Chinese university students version FCB-TI as a revised foundation, and revises the Temperament Inventory for Adults. Having an formal measurement for1693adults’. The study analyses the structure of adult temperament with confirmatory factor analysis method. And then researches the stability and variability characteristics of adults’temperament in the aspect of age, gender and career. In addition to limitations of the quantitative research, the study also adopt the qualitative research methods to understand whether the subjects have difference point on the temperament stable and what the typical life events influence temperament change. The study has mainly following conclusions:1. The revised adult FCB-TI covers six dimensions including briskness (BR), perseverance(PE), sensory sensitivity(SS), emotional reactivity(ER), endurance(EN) and activity(AC). The FCB-TI of adults has satisfying reliability and validity.2. There is a significant difference in BR、PE、SS and ER of different age paragraphs. There is a significant difference on SS、ER、EN and AC of different professions.3. The qualitative research revealed that there are1008subjects mentioned the temperament is variable, take the70.3percent; there are426subjects considered the temperament is stable, take the29.7percent。Based on the semantic analysis of the answer, there show five category:self-exertion(15.3%), family life(18.2%), social or work environment(37.2%), Sudden Events(5.7%) and Mental and physical growth(23.7%).
