According to different standards, we can see the International Society ofKrishna Consciousness as Mysterious religion, Monotheism, New religion, Universalreligion or Inclusive religion. The core topics are the history of ISKCON’s ideasbased on its basic doctrines and the history of its establishment and development. I tryto use widespread contact method to reveal ISKCON’s original thoughts and tounderstand the process of its development and communication, so we can clarify itsstatus of religious history and contemporary society. By discussing the difficulties ofthe development of the movement, we also have to think more about the future ofNew religions.The introduction mainly presents the general situation of ISKCON and reviewsthe studies of American and Chinese scholars towards ISKCON. It also introduces theformation of research documents, the critical and solving problems and the researchapproaches.The main body includes four parts:Part one analyzes the meanings of ISKCON’s classics and Hare Krishna mantrato let us know the reasons of the significance of the devotion to God Krishna.Part two introduces the founder of ISKCON, its principles and purposes andmain organization, so we can get a future understanding of ISKCON’s development inAmerica.Part three analyzes the constitution and lifestyle of ISKCON’s devotees and howthey joined in this movement. This part also includes the missionary activities and thedifficulties ISKCON faced so that we can get more information about ISKCON.Part four combines with the concret social backgroud of American society toexposes the reasons of the occurrence of ISKCON. By analyzing its Universal Ethnics,we can attain deep information of this movement.The conclusion summarizes this thesis and there is a brief statement about thequestions of the development of Hare Krishna movement and other New Religions.
