Aesthetic Meaning Of Ecological Culture

In the era of industrial culture, human is the master of the world and the ruler ofnature.The way of object-dichotomy thinking provides people with privilege, whilescience and technology gives people strength. The earth is thought to be a machine,and nature is an object to be used, having no life or intrinsic value. Nature wouldeventually wake up. The awakening of nature is performed in taking revenge onhuman, such as resource depletion, environmental pollution, and frequent outbreak ofnatural disasters. The survival of humanity is in deep trouble and human must reflectdeeply on their actions. Ecological culture is a new way of living, and a harmoniousrelationship between human and nature is its fundamental feature. It is arevolutionary correction of the hostile relationship between human and nature in theindustrial culture. Harmonious relationship between human and nature in ecologicalculture is manifested in various aspects. Humans regard nature as the foundation ofsurvival, serve nature as the mother, treat relationship between development andnatural properly and protect Mother Nature by action.Martin Heidegger, the founder of Ontology philosophy, contemplatedartistically the survival of human, and believed that human existence was poeticdwelling.“Poetic dwelling” of Heidegger was started from the construction ofhuman’s “existence” of “being together in the World’, and “being together in theWorld” means home consciousness in reality. Home consciousness means poeticdwelling of humans, and “poetic dwelling” is what Heidegger thought about human’sliving condition. The essential feature of it was rescuing the land. This kind of rescueis a holistic activity, based on freedom, pointing to the holistic existence of man andnature. Rescuing the land is to respect and protect the secrets and keep harmoniouscoexistence of all beings.The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that ecological culture is this kind ofactivity, and the state which ecological culture will reach is where human dwellpoetically. Ecological culture and poetic dwelling have something in common.Humans ‘dwell poetically’ on the land by ecological culture.
