Reciprocal, as a worldwide concept, is involved into many languages but theways to express it are all different. In China, scholars who study reciprocal arefocusing on two main categories: the notations of reciprocal and the notional words ofreciprocal. Believed that the ways to express reciprocal is varies, this essay will give adiscussion on reciprocal, based on A Handbook for Grammatical Investigation andResearch (By Liu Danqing), from the sentences whereby reciprocal is expressed.According to A Handbook for Grammatical Investigation and Research andother previous researches, the essay will conclude four ways to express reciprocal:notations of reciprocal, notional words of reciprocal, coreference and compoundsentences. Because their stresses are all different, they cancoexist in the same condition.This essay, based upon the concept of reciprocal, will give a detail description ofall these four methods.
