The spiritual role and social role of good visual art works are huge, for it cansatisfy mankind’s pursuit of a better life and the beautiful things, meanwhile itsfunctionality and aesthetics are the important powers to advance human’s owndevelopment as well as balance, promote and coordinate the harmoniousdevelopment of society. At present, China is vigorously promoting and developingthe “aesthetic education”, in hopes of scientifically, harmoniously, and steadilypromoting the positive development of society by the guiding role of the uniquespirit of visual arts. Along with the progress of society, visual art works of differenttypes, different forms, and different contents constantly emerge, persistently promotethe civilization of the whole society, and continuously improve the overall qualityand level of the people. But at the same time, a few visual art works have negativeeffects. People lack scientific and reasonable standard and basis in the process of theevaluation of visual art works, thus the conclusions of evaluation appear confusing.In many institutions of higher art education, although the teaching reforms have beencarried out for a long time, there are still many deficiencies and loopholes in somelinks and contents of basic teaching. In particular, hardly any sufficient and credibletheoretical bases can be provided in students’ conversion from concrete to abstractthinking. It is also very difficult to enumerate the strict vision standards to helpstudents to understand and grasp the abstract forms of training. The lack of necessaryand reasonable explanation of the existing visual arts law, such as organizationprinciples, formal aesthetics rules etc., and the negligence of the relationshipbetween basic modeling theories within visual art category and related knowledge ofother basic disciplines, make students unable to understand many visual rules deeplyand thoroughly, which directly influences their subsequent learning and applications.If a visual artist who does not fully understand and master the basic rules of visualarts engages in art creation, he could not make such visual representations by skillfully, accurately, and reasonably using modeling means as to directly affect thework’s quality and value.......The problems and views in this paper are found and proposed in the practicalteaching experiences, mainly targeted at the deficiencies and shortcomings ofmodeling theories with respect to basic teaching. These views were first summed upand proposed to answer students’ intangible questions. And then after long-termsummarization and practice, it is gradually made clear that in visual arts there exist“the modeling relations elements that are potential but representational andregularized and that are crucial to the accuracy of emotional expression”. And aconclusion is also drawn that “the abstract modeling relations elements play animportant role in the process of visual arts creation, in the process of achieving thevalue of the visual art works, as well as in the process of the development andmaturity of visual arts”.The paper first demonstrates the objectivity and rationality of the existence of“visual modeling relations elements”, based on the character and regularity of people(the physiological, psychological aspects) and on the regularity of people’s externalphysical environment; and then tries to analyze, induce and sum up the concreterepresentational forms and rules that can be applied in visual arts through themimicry representation of abstract “modeling relations elements”; on that basis,illustrates the modes, methods, and basic principles of “rules of modeling relationselements” in the visual arts; finally summarizes the great significance of the study on“rules of modeling relations elements”.Presently, the proposition of the visual arts modeling relations theory as well asits in-depth study and standardization is helpful and of great realistic significance topromote the development and the construction of the visual arts in all aspects such asteaching, scientific research and practice.
