The Yuan Dynasty, a unique history stage, was established by Mongolian nationality, which considered as the first unified empire established by minority. As the Mongolian nationality entered and hosted Central Plains, the politic, economy, culture and so forth was greatly affected. Due to the mutually influence between marriage system in Mongolian nationality and marriage system in Central Plains, the marriage custom in Yuan Dynasty embodied not only the tradition peculiar to the Central Plains, but the characteristic of Yuan Dynasty through the cultural confliction and fusion of Mongolian and Han races.The Yuan Zajusucceed and developed the Song and Jin Zaju, which was taken for a landmark in traditional opera history of our country. It consisted of spoken parts,sing, music and dance in the opera. The Yuan Zaju, as the further maturity form in art region, reflected broadly all aspects of marriage custom in Yuan Dynasty.Basing on the "Yuan drama selection" compiled by ZangJinshu and ’Yuan drama selection" composed by Sui Shushen, the present study straighten out Wedding custom among162types of Yuan Zaju via uniting literature study and national custom study. It offered more perspectives to further study about Yuan Zaju.The present study mainly researched the description about marriage custom in Yuan Zaju, marriage procedures and marriage types and analyzed the marriage states in different social stages. At last, it concluded reason and cultural meanings.The present study contains five parts.The preface part illustrated the literature review, studied way and meanings.the present study dissertated the general situation of marriage custom in Yuan Dynasty including its characters, development and changes.It induced the marriage description in the form of tables. In the meanwhile, the best common marriage form, Betrothal marriage, was the focal point. The description contained marriage procedure, break and crisis.Narrated marriage forms in Yuan Zaju. Except for betrothal marriage, there were some other forms, for example uxorilocal marriage, pulp marriage, child marriage involved in Central Plains culture, grab his wife marriage, the typical wife to marry and received marriage existed in the influence of Mongolian and Han cultures. These critical forms comprised different features.Three social stages including intellectuals, merchants, and women. Furthermore, some social questions in these stages would also be involved.The last concluded reason why these features produced in Yuan Zaju and deeper meanings for other studies.
