The corsair as one of the most important works of Byron is composed of “theOriental tales”. In this work, Byron’s romantic writing style, his freedom andrebellious spirit of heroic qualities are reflected brightly and centrally. It was writtenin a stage when Byron was enormously proud of his success, his thought and hispoetic arts also reached the mature period. This work shapes the so-called image of"Byronic hero"--Conrad that shows the distinct personality of the poet just as theother five story poems. In a sense, through this image of the hero, Byron who had lostin his own success remolded himself. As for the female images in this poem--poeticMandaona and rebellious Gnarad were also involved in shaping the hero from anotherpoint of view. There is another way of saying that Byron sorted out various kinds oflove which he had experienced to imagine the ideal female images. Reading TheCorsair is a process of understanding the inner world of Byron. As a lion ofromanticists to call on freedom, Conrad in Byron’ poem is on behalf of Byron himself.Just as the old saying says“There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes”,although the feelings about the poem may differ in thousands of ways and theunderstanding of Conrad are not identical, the rebel and fighting image of Byron---itmight be fuzzy Superficially, but actually profound---is presented to the readers. When studying on the poem The Corsair---especially on the protagonist Conrad, theauthor can learn how to understand the ideological and artistic mystery of the seriesworks of "Oriental tale poem”, which is also the first step into the rich, arcane andcomplex world of Byron. The academic significance of this research focus on thispoint. Certainly, this thesis contributes to helping readers understand those classics ofromantic poetics, enhance the understanding of the importance of reading classics. The close association between classic works and the meaning of life and the far-reaching influence on the meaning of life which caused by reading classic worksare also mentioned in this thesis.
