Perceptual Load、Attentional Window On Emotional Faces The Influence Of Memory

Research on emotion and cognition has become a hot topic, but most studiesexplore the effect of emotion on cognitive (perception, memory, attention and so on),until recent years, the researchers began to pay attention to the cognitive (perception,memory, attention and so on) effect on emotion recognition. Emotional faces is thesignal has a biological significance, it plays an important role in directing theinterpersonal communication and behavior motivation. The size of attentional window:participants in the visual search task will appear two attentional window: the focusedsmall attentional window and the distributed big attentional window. In these studies,the researchers used load task control attentional window, and then probe into itsmood to face the influence of memory, but the researchers ignore the perceptual loadthis factor is also affect emotional faces memory. Therefore, the purpose of presentstudy is to survey perceptual load on emotional faces the influence of memory, andfurther verification attentional window to emotional faces the influence of memory;Through the alphabetic string task method, put attentional window to expand tooutside of emotional faces, investigation further widening of the window to emotionalfaces the influence of memory.In the present study,150undergraduates participated and including threeexperiments, investigates the perceptual load, attentional window to emotional facesthe influence of memory separately, Experiment1investigate the perceptual load onemotional faces the influence of memory, through the alphabetic string task method.Experiment2further investigate the perceptual load on emotional faces the influenceof memory on the basis of experiment1. And combined with the experiment1provedattentional window to emotional faces the influence of memory. Experiment3investigate attentional window outside expand to the emotional face, attentionalwindow to emotional faces the influence of memory.2(perceptual load: letter coloridentification, target letter identification)×3(emotional faces: happy face, neutralfaces and sad face) mixed design is used in the present study. Emotional face is thewithin-subject variable, and perceptual load is subjects variable.The results revealed that emotional faces relative to neutral faces can be more effective to catch attention, especially sad face, capture the attention of more strongability; perceptual load affect emotional faces in memory, in high perceptual loadconditions, the memory of the sad face better than the happy faces, in low perceptualload conditions, the memory of the sad face and happy faces no difference; attentionalwindow affect emotional faces in memory, in the focused small attentional window,the memory of the sad face better than the happy faces, in distributed big attentionalwindow, the memory of the sad face and happy faces no difference; attentionalwindow expand to emotional faces outside, happy face memory and sad face memoryno difference.
