Following the two big trend—multi-dimensional measurement and system integration, this research focus on stressors—an important influencing factor of creativity, and thencomprehensive discusses the impact of stressors, cognitive motivation, creative efficiencyand task difficulty on different dimensions of creativity (creative problem solving andcreative ideas generation). Study1discusses the mediating effect of cognitive motivationand creative performance on the relationship between stressors and creativity. And thenaccording to the result, this research try to classify the stressors; Study2discusses the impactof stressors’ type, stressors’ level and task difficulty on cognitive motivation, creativeefficiency and creativity under the basis of the classification of stressors in study1.Study1contains six experiments—six2(stressors: exist or not)*2(task type: insightproblem or Wallas and Kogan’s creativity test)between-subject experiment design, theindependent variables are to comparison pressure, evaluation pressure, urged pressure, time pressure, conflict pressure and negative feedback pressure; mediating variables arecognitive motivation and creative efficiency; the dependent variables are creative ideasgeneration and creative problem solving. The experiments employ cluster sampling toselect320participants from three schools in Suzhou area, range in age from19to22yearsold, the trait anxiety is measured before experiment to ensure the trait anxiety in lowerlevel. The experimental results found that the mediating effect of cognitive motivation onthe relationship between the comparative pressure, urge pressure, time pressure, negativefeedback and creativity; and the mediating effect of creative efficiency on the relationshipbetween evaluation pressure, negative feedback and creativity. This research classifies thestressors into three types: efficiency stressors, motivation stressors and comprehensionstressors.Study2take2(motivation stressors and efficiency stressors)*2(high stress level andlow stress level)*2(simple task and difficult task) hybrid experimental design and employcluster sampling to select160subjects, range in age from19to22years old. Experimental results show that a) the mediating effect of cognitive motivation on the relationshipbetween motivation stressors and creativity problem solving, and the moderating effect oftask difficulty on the relationship between motivation stressors and cognitive motivation; b)the mediating effect of creative efficiency on the relationship between efficiency stressors, task difficulty and creative performance; c) when the stressors and task difficulty in a highlevel, no matter what type of stressor is, its creative performance decline significantly.
