Research And Implementation On Fluency Of Readability Technology In Automatic English Essay Scoring

Automatic essay scoring system is a tool automatically analyzing and scoring essays using computer science and natural language processing technologies. More and more commercial automatic essay scoring system is needed to release teachers’ extra-heavy burden and implement standardized large scale essay scoring for institutions.For Chinese English learners, this is especially significant. English writing is a hardcore for many Chinese English learners. Traditional English learning training consumes lots of teachers’ working time and forces them to do lots of repeated work. Hence, China is the most place need such a system.Our automatic English essay scoring system is designed exclusive for Chinese English learners based on their unique features. This system uses natural language processing technology to analyze and extract features from students’ essays. Essay scores are predicted by integrating feature dimensions into scoring models.This research discussed fluency of readability technology in our automatic English essay scoring system. A set of methodologies of fluency of readability assessment is proposed by detecting different categories of writing errors in essays. These methodologies aim to improve the automatic English essay scoring system by adding fluency of readability related features into its assessment logic. The final result shows the overall improvement on the English essay scoring.
