A Register Analysis Of The Translation Of Chinese Bank Profiles

In this thesis, the translation study on bank profile is conducted under the guidance of register theory proposed by Halliday. China’s bank profiles often distinguish themselves by having a number of distinctive words, by using words or phrases in a particular way, and sometimes by special grammatical constructions. These are the register markers of them. The Author of this thesis first of all identifies the register markers of Chinese version profiles of the banks in China. Then she focuses her attention on the translation methods adopted by translators in translating these register markers. And in comparison with American bank profiles, she points out the problems in current translation and gives her own advice to improve the quality of it. Thus, the Author of this thesis wants to prove that register theory plays a significant role in making translation of bank profiles better accepted by the target readers.
