Herta Müller, who has achieved Nobel Laureate in2009, wields a lot of influence inliterary scene of German. As an extremely sensitive person, she owns not only a keeninsight into subtle changes of surroundings or stimuli from communities she lives in, buteven better at presenting what she sees and thinks with nicety and uniqueness of her style. Most of her creations depict a cruel word full of indifference, hardship, treachery, dictatorship, violence and apprehension as well as human souls being twisted and abusedconstantly in this world. Selecting Müller’s narrative works in different periods, this thesisexplores the connection between her trauma experience and literature creation throughperusal in combination with her life background. The thesis consists of three parts: preface, body and conclusion. In the preface, theauthor offers introduction of Müller’s life as well as relevant research both at home andabroad and demonstrates the importance of theme selection for the thesis. The bodyconsists of three parts: firstly, the author summarizes trauma and traumatic narrativetheories; secondly, combining with Müller’s autobiographic works as well as relateddocumentary sources in the light of her life, the author endeavors to recover Müller’schildhood memory as well as her experience in Romania, Germany with the stay in laborcamp included while targeting comparatively importantly traumatic events and eventuallyintrospects her creation process; thirdly, the author, mainly by means of text analysis, discusses Müller’s time-lined traumatic experience in different periods textually reflectedin her novels. In the conclusion part, the author summarizes the whole thesis and putsforward the central view topic: Müller conceals in her works her own record of the traumaand as far as Müller herself is concerned, creation is a process for therapatic narration.During the trauma writing, she expresses and recovers herself, introspects and evensurpasses the times, which is not only the meaning of her works but also an approach forher to extend her life into a broader time and space. At present, domestic research of Herta Müller is rare. The author would like toprovide a new view for demotic research on Herta Müller.
