In this thesis, the author will do a study of the anti-racism and anti-sexism in The Color Purple through black women’s solidarity, resistance to oppression and the changing attitude that black men treat women. Alice Walker created the word "womanism" to replace "feminism". With a further study of "womanism", the author finds it was a difficult progress of black women to fight against sexual and racial discrimination, as well as the ultimate freedom and intersexual harmony, which fully demonstrates the positive significance of "Womanism" in black women’s liberation and national equality. |
