The development of culture, science and technology promote the development of design artin various fields, also impact on the development of the modern silk design. The purpose of thisstudy is to find how to use the new method of repairing the old into new and how to use tapestryto show the charm of Thangka and Dunhuang murals in the Buddhist culture. The author hopethat more cross-cutting innovative thinking of design will be stimulated relying on theoreticalthinking and practical experience with the spirit of heritage and interpretation, meanwhile, themethod of how to extract the traditional cultural elements in Buddhist theme to apply in themodern silk design will be summarized, in order to improve the cultural connotation and theadded value of the design work itself, increase the artistic feeling of silk design and enhance thevisual appeal and market competitiveness.
