This project explores the realization of Reception Aesthetics in the translation ofAlice’s Adventure in Wonderland, which is highly acclaimed in the world. In this book,Carroll uses lots of children’s language, nursery rhyme and fancy rhetoric. However,the former translation study mainly focuses on the meaning of the words andsentences, not emphasizes the fancy rhetoric and the culture-bound items. This projectconsiders the words and sentences while stressing the fancy rhetoric and theculture-bound items to improve the translation study.The author attempts to provide the following three implications: Firstly, childrenare the primary readers of children’s literature, therefore, translators should fullyconsider children’s acceptability. Secondly, in the process of translation, translator asthe first reader should try to meet children’s horizon of expectations. Thirdly,translator should activate all his knowledge to explore the information conveyed bythe text and to fulfill the vacancy of meaning and text for children in order tounderstand the translation work better.This project has both theoretical significance and practical significance in that ittries to summarize suggestions and proposals to translators of children’s literatureunder the guidance of Reception Aesthetics, based on the distinctive features ofliterary works for young readers.
