With different near and far field characteristics, the anisotropic dielectric has a wide range of applications in practical engineering applications, such as design of the new ultra-wideband antenna and special microwave components, military targets coated with radar absorbing materials to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) and so on. This paper will focus on electromagnetic scattering analysis of the target containing anisotropic medium by integral equation method of moments.First, the paper reviews research background and significance of the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the target containing anisotropic media, the development situation of domestic and abroad and the common approach to study, including analytical and numerical methods, compares the advantages and disadvantages of various methods. On this basis, this paper takes the volume-surface integral equation as research approach. Then integral equation method for electromagnetic scattering problems is introduced. Starting from the surface and volume equivalence principle, the surface integral equation method to analyze the metal target, volume integral equation method to analyze the general media target and volume-surface integral equation method to analyze combined metal-general media target are established, respectively. On this basis, the method of moments and characteristic parameter calculation are also introduced.Second, integral equation method for perfectly conducting objects is introduced firstly, key to singular and near-singular integral treatment of the RWG basis functions. Then volume integral equation method based on piecewise constant basis function is introduced. The feature of the used basis function and its influence on geometric modeling and numerical calculation are analyzed. Relevant singular and near-singular integral treatment method are derived in detail, including the accurate calculation of hypersingular dyadic green function integral. Nextly, the above method is used to analysis of electromagnetic scattering of the electric and magnetic anisotropic medium.Again, combining analysis method of perfectly conducting targets and anisotropic medium, the volume-surface integral equations (VSIE) is used to analyze the electromagnetic scattering from composite conducting-anisotropic dielectric objects. Anisotropic coating impact on RCS and related applications have also been discussed. Finally, the method of this paper is further extended to the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from bi-anisotropic medium and composited objects with PEC targets. Based the presented method, compared to anisotropic medium, the computational complexity of bi-anisotropic medium in filling impedance matrix don’t increase obviously. The numerical experiments verify the validity and efficiency of presented method.
