Digital holography has been widely used and researched, because it has not only the advantages of optical holography but also the advantages of fast image acquisition, convenient image processing. When the object is light sensitivity and the influence of the light irradiation should be prevented. In order to reduce the influence we can choose the method of reducing the irradiation intensity. But it is difficult to record a hologram under weak illumination using a conventional holographic recording material, for example, a holographic plate or a photopolymer. Recently with the development of optoelectronic sensors which have very high sensitivity and high quantum efficiency, photon-counting digital holography under weak illumination can be performed.In this paper photon-counting methods and digital holography technology is combined, and experimental demonstrate digital holography based on photon-counting under weak illumination is feasible. In experience, holography record with off-line holographic system use a photon-counting detector, real-time observation and fast acquisition image use computer, and numerical reconstruction use MATLAB.This thesis includes two parts:theoretical introduction and experimental analysis. In the first part, numerical calculation of Fresnel diffraction and the requirement of digital holographic recording been introduced. Then numerical simulate the process of holographic recording and reconstruction, and using digital image processing to deal with the zero-order diffraction light and conjugate image to improving reconstruction image quality. In the experimental analysis part, firstly optical elements and experimental setup used in experiment are introduced. Secondly, under different light intensity, directly recording off-line digital holographic image use CCD in reflection holographic setup, numerical reconstruction by MATLAB and analysis of the results. Finally, under ultraweak illumination, recording digital holographic image uses EMCCD at different integral time, and simulates diffraction process to reconstruct object by numerical calculations. In order to improve quality of reconstructed images using digital image processing methods such as image filtering, image enhancement and denoising, and analysis of experimental results.
