With the development of modern technology, the application of materials isincreasingly important. As a new functional construction material, metal foamhas wide applications. Though, There is a lot of preparation methods foraluminum foam, the powder metallurgy (PCM) has a much faster developmentrecently. There are many characteristics of the PCM, simple, easy to make thenear net shape parts, no machining process and convenient to make foamcomplex in the pipe directly.Surface treatment between aluminum powder and blowing agent and theaddition of tackifier are the main three factors of PCM and studied in this paper.The influence of these factors on the structure of aluminum foam hole is studied,by the comparison of single factor and multivariate orthogonal of these factorsrespectively. The influence of each factor, tendency of index values and thecorresponding mechanism are analyzed, The optimum parameters are obtainedin consequence. Through the experiments, the following conclusions can bedrawn:Under the influence of a single factor, the aluminum foam with the bestbehavior is obtained when the aluminum is milled for75minutes and theoxidation processing time of TiH2is15minutes with SiC added1.5wt%and Mgadded0.6wt%. as tackifiers.In the orthogonal experiment when Mg is added as tackifier, the sequence ofaffecting factor about milling time of Al powder, adding amount of Mg powder,and the oxidation time of TiH2, is C (the oxidation time of TiH2)≥A (themilling time of Al powder)≥B (addition of Mg powder).The best optimumprocess parameters are: the oxidation time of TiH2is10min, the milling time ofAl powder is85min, addition of Mg powder is0.5wt%, the porosity ofcorresponding aluminum foam sample is84.2%, the average diameter ofequivalent circular is1.931mm and the average1is0.753.In the orthogonal experiment when SiC is added as tackifier, the sequence ofaffecting factor about milling time of Al powder, addition of Mg powder, and oxidation time of TiH2, is C (addition of SiC)≥A (the oxidation time of TiH2)≥B (the milling time of Al powder).The best optimum process parameters are:the addition of SiC is0.5wt%, the oxidation time of TiH2is15min, the millingtime of Al powder is65min, the porosity of corresponding aluminum foamsample is83.1%, the average diameter of equivalent circular is2.502mm and theaverage circularity is0.758.Above-mentioned results, when the Mg powder is added as tackifier withoptimized experiment parameter, best pore structure parameter can be achieved.
