The lead-zinc polymetallic sulfide ores are characterized by complex composition and fine disseminated size, and the techology of recovering these ores has always been the research emphasis in the non-ferrous metal ore-dressing industry. The compositions of the lead and zinc sulfide ores in Lancang of Yunnan province are simple:the major sulphide minerals are galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite; the minor minerals are cerusite, lead vanadium, smithsonite, malachite and so on; the main gangue minerals are quartz, calcite, dolomite, chlorite and so on. To investigate the distribution of the aim minerals, process mineralogy studies were conducted.According to the results of process mineralogy, the raw ore sample assayed2.45%Pb,0.46%Zn. However, the content of Zn cannot reach the minimum recovering sandards, and the Zn-bearing minerals will be removed as gangues to improve the quality of lead concentrates. In order to recover the lead sulfide ore of Lancang, the preferential flotation tests were conducted. The results show that by the simple flowsheet of once rougher, once scavenger and twice cleaner, the lead concentrates assaying55.4%Pb with a recovery of88.30%could be obtained. This process has advantages of simple flowsheet, reasonable reagent system, easy operation, small investment and easy construction of plant, and it could be used for references in treating this kind of ores.
