At present, the energy issue has become one of the most concern problemsof the world, the key to solve the problem is energy development andconservation, but conservation is easier to implement. Heat insulation materialsplay an important role in saving energy. In this research, the calciumhexaluminate/anorthite composite are prepared by magnesia slag, kaolin andindustrial alumina. The effect of sintering processing on the structure andproperties of composites are investigated by X-ray powder diffraction andscanning electron microscopy. The refractoriness, the thermal shock resistanceand the hydration resistance are studied, and analyzed the main affecting factors. The main results are as follows:(1) It is show that CA6could be observed from1300℃, but a lot of CA6crystals are detected between1450℃and1500℃, and there is a phasetransitions form gehlenite to anorthite between1300℃and1400℃; The CA6crystal has best crystal morphology when heating rate is4℃/min; The CA6crystal has best crystal morphology when holding time is4h.(2) With increment of the amount of the binder, the apparent porosityincreases, the bulk density and flexural strength decreases.(3) When forming pressure is small, the CA6crystal grows up along thebasal plane direction. With increase of the forming pressure, the CA6crystalgrows up turn to along the axial direction, and the apparent porosity decreases, the bulk density and the flexural strength increases. The best forming pressure is120Mpa.(4) The refractoriness is higher than1550℃. The thermal shock resistanceis between500℃and600℃. The weight gain rate of specimen increases from0.0626%to0.172%after specimen hydration, the specimen has good abilities inhydration resistance.
