Acoustic emission during the process of concrete injury can reveal the damagemechanism of concrete well, so in this paper acoustic emission of concrete wasstudied with the method combining theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. In this paper, exploratory researches about acoustic emission during the processof concrete injury were carried out with synergy theory founded by Haken. Firstly, the evolutionary equation of self-organization describing acoustic emission ofconcrete was founded, which points out that the essence of self-organization iscompetition. AE will present the feature of "disorder-order-disorder" due to theself-organizing effect. Next adiabatic elimination principle was used to found theorder parameter equation of AE which can depict the co-evolution course of AE well. Then Fokker-Planck equation was used to analyze the order parameter equation, andthen it showed that random fluctuations appear in the process of AE. Due to theeffect of random fluctuations, the particle being characterized by AE will go awayfrom the former equilibrium position and reach the next equilibrium position. Finally, chaos model of concrete damage and acoustic emission event is founded. The AEevent meets with the Logistic equation, thereby it present period-doublingbifurcations which can lead adiabatic elimination principle to be invalid.RFPA-2D software was used to simulate to the AE phenomenon during theprocess of concrete injury under the following load conditions: uniaxial tension andcompression, around the tension, shear, bending and cyclic loading and unloading. The results show that the evolutionary laws of AE are consistent with the synergisticmodel. The method which uses synergistic theory to analyze AE of concrete isfeasible. It provides a new method analyzing AE and new theoretical basis forengineering applications.Self-organization, self-similarity and chaos effect of AE event in the process ofconcrete injury were analyzed and verified referring to the result of numericalsimulation. Firstly, self-organizing evolution of AE event was described qualitatively.Secondly, self-similarity of AE event was tested. The results point that there is different self-similarity measure with fluctuations in different stages andself-similarity measure will reach to a minimum when the test block appearmacroscopical damage. So self-similarity measure can be used to judge the criticalcondition of concrete injury. In the end, singular attractor and sensitivity of originalvalue which be regarded as characters of chaos effect were analyzed.
