The Tidal Gate of the Water Control Project on the19.5km long coastal embankment, which is located in Binhai Economic&Technological Development Zone and close to Laizhou Bay of the Bohai Sea, proves to be one of the most important node in the process of the building of Weifang seaside Water-City. The project is expected to have multi-functions as tide proof, flood discharge and water replacement as well as being transportation ways and scenic spots, Etc.There are series of key technology problems in engineering construction and design due to the harsh environmental conditions that the area of the project is eroded by continuous storm surge, furthermore, the stratum is formed by silty soil. The problems are as follows. How to construct the Water Conservancy project on the thick liquefiable stratum on the silty coast in nature from a conservation perspective; What style of the cofferdam should be adopted for the convenience of the heavy vehicle running through on it and being the tide barrier and water proof; How to avoid the weir and the cutoff works cross, so that the economic security, facilitate construction can be guaranteed.At present, the researches on buildings in hydro project especially in milty ground are comparatively less at home and aboard. To solve the technical problems that exist in the project, this paper mainly studies the following three aspects through an extensive collection of information, combined with the mathematical model test, On-site construction and on the spot experiments.1.The basic study on the Silty Ground and the processing method:the construction site is on the VII degree earthquake zone and the ground stratum is formed by Quaternary Holocene alluvial marine silt, loam and alluvial loam,1layer of silt accumulation flow rate of low-impact, easy to earthquake liquefaction. Through further analysis of the basic data and stability, seepage, liquefaction analysis to determine the foundation and foundation treatment.2. The study on cofferdam on sea:The cofferdam will not only keep off the water and the dampness but also shoulder heavy responsibilities of transportation. Simultaneously, owing to the Cofferdam ground is soft and permeable, the cofferdam structure and layout should be carefully studied from the respects of structural safety, easy construction and investment saving, Etc.
