The transformer is a device that through the phenomenon of electromagneticmutual inductance, changing the input current, voltage, without changing the inputfrequency. The electronic devices are rapidly development to high power density,miniaturization at present. The transformers develop into the light weight, thinness,small size, high power. The planar transformer entered a stage of rapid development.This research project of the planar pulse transformer is the current hot. Thistransformer has the advantages of high efficiency, small size. This paper design thestructural and optimization of the transformer. Designing the Structural of thetransformer, we need to consider the line spacing of the transformer, line width,conductor material, insulation thickness, insulation materials, number of coil turns, andwe Should also consider the size of the MEMS planar transformer to meet therequirements.Because the transformer has small size and high heat density, In order to ensure theMEMS planar transformer work properly, this paper need to conduct the thermalperformance analysis for the MEMS planar transformer. The thermal density of ourdesigned the MEMS higher than the natural hot and cold that0.05W/cm2. So the naturalcooling can not satisfy the design requirements. This paper need to choose other coolingmethods to satisfy the cooling requirements of the MEMS planar transformer. Thispaper try to forced air cooling methods and so on. Once this paper used these methods,the size of the transformer will exceed the design requirements. Our designed the pulsetransformer required working for several pulse periods, this paper reduced the workingtime of the plane pulse transformer, to ensure that the planar pulse transformer can workproperly. The MEMS planar transformer worked for no more than2seconds, thatmeaning100pulse periods, the temperature of the MEMS planar transformer will notexceed60℃, the transformer can work stability.This paper did the structural design of the MEMS planar transformer. And thispaper did the thermal performance analysis for the MEMS planar transformer. Ensurethe MEMS pulse transformer could normal work. The working temperature can not exceed60℃.
