As a cost-effective clean energy, wind energy has been attached great importance to and promoted widely. Owning to wide range of wind energy utilization, flexibility control of power regulation, high reliability of low voltage ride through capability and high system reliability, the direct-drive wind power system becomes an important trend of wind power technology development. As one of the core component of the direct-drive wind power system, the study of power converter is necessary. The paper is mainly focus on the study of direct-drive wind power converter.For the field of wind power technology, the present situation and trends of wind power industry and converter industry in China and abroad is commented briefly. After comparing the common topologies used in direct-drive wind power converter, the topology of converter based on three-phase single-tube rectifier and voltage source inverter is chosen, whose working principle and mathematical model are analyzed in detail. And according to it, the rectifier’s closed-loop control system based on parameter adaptive fuzzy control is designed. According to SVPWM control mode of voltage source inverter and voltage space vector principle, the active power and reactive power decoupling control of converter based on analysis of power angle is proposed.The main circuit of converter, LCL filter, IGBT driver circuit and a variety of signal detection circuit are designed in addition.In order to obtain the operating characteristics of the system, parameter adaptive fuzzy control system of rectifier in generator side, power decoupling control system of inverter in grid side, and the control system of wind power converter are simulated based on MATLAB7.1/SIMULINK. The results of simulation support the scientific and rational of wind power converter and control strategy studied in this paper.
