Using two-way feeding technology, automatic weapon can choose different bullets to shoot according to the different nature of the operational goals. It can significantly improve the damage capacity of weapons to destroy the point and area targets, and thus can improve the operational effectiveness.The two-way feeding mechanism of a new weapon was introduced, the small and simple two-way feeding system was designed, a overall program of the movable two-way feeding system was established, and the basic components, structural characteristics and working principle were introduced in detail. The various parts of the feeding system were designed and three dimensional modeling and total assembling was realized A virtual prototype simulation model of the movable two-way feed system was established, and an analysis of the kinematics and dynamics characteristics of motor coordination mechanism, transmission mechanism, one-way clutch and feeding mechanism proved that the feeding mechanism was able to complete the required action perfectly. The two-way feeding system was complexed Joint clearance is unavoidable This decreases the mechanism motion precision, and the reliability of ammunition feeding was affected. The multi-body simulation model containing clearance was established, the effect of clearance on mechanism motion precision was analyzed, and a method to compensate the clearance was proposed. Meanwhile the effect of clearance on the dynamics characteristics of transmission mechanism was analyzed. Impact force of mechanism was incresead as well as the unbalance of the feeding mechanism because of clearance base on the above analysis, an optimizing design of the curve cam path of ramming mechanism was done, making it consume the least energy. All the work above gave some analysis and optimization of the two-way feeding system. It could be a good reference for further study and improvement for this kind of weapon prototype.
