In the shooting range test, we need to find the location of projectile impacting point in the firing range, in order to test and analyze the projectiles performance such as shooting range, shooting accuracy and so on. According to the demand of projectile recovery, study a kind of method based on seismic wave to locate the projectile impacting point, and expands analysis and method study in seismic wave, laying the foundation for the testing system positioning the projectile impacting point.The impact of the projectile on the ground generates seismic wave, describes the characteristics of the type of seismic waves and each wave component, determine the Raleigh wave can be used to detect the projectile impacting point, and analysis the attenuation characteristics, spectral characteristics and the propagation characteristics in different terrain of seismic wave. Based on the positioning principle of TDOA, the paper puts forward the positioning models which are based on the sensors diamond-shaped array and triangular array, simulate and analyze the positioning algorithm in different divisions within the range of3km×3km using MATLAB, comparing two mathematical models comprehensively, select the diamond-shaped array as the model of positioning projectile impacting point.Analyze application of Fourier transform, Wavelet transform and Hilbert-Huang transform (Abbreviate HHT) in the seismic wave which is generated by projectile landing, and compares the effect of wavelet decomposition and EMD of HHT method in seismic signals, confirming that HHT method is more applicable to seismic signals; Analyze and discuss the seismic signals measured in different terrain, and comes to the different propagation characteristics of the seismic signal accordingly. Proposes a new method to extract the time difference with EMD and cross-correlation method, this method includes the distribution of each IMF component normalized energy and the spectrum similarity of advantage IMF component, and validates the method can reduce the effects of topography on seismic wave propagation by processing real data.Based on the studies above, performance the simulation experiment about positioning the projectile impact point. Conduct the sensor selection, design the corresponding conditioning circuit, format the data acquisition system based on PXI, and programme corresponding software of test and data processing. Conduct the synchronization test of each sensors indoor and coupling test of seismic sensors with Earth’s surface. Use the heavy object impacting ground to simulate seismic signal which is generated by projectile land on the ground, Use the impacting point simulated artificially to experiment in the shooting range formats the whole system of positioning test. Firstly, then proceed the positioning test of the projectile impacting point, and get the location coordinates combining with diamond-shaped array positioning algorithm and method of time difference extraction based on EMD.
