Forest is not only the largest ecosystem, but also the largest carbon pool in the terrestrialecosystems. It plays an important role in the global carbon cycle. The forest ecological systemabsorbed the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and fixed into vegetation and soil carbonthrough the photosynthesis of plants, and reduced the concentration of carbon dioxide in theatmosphere. Under the background of the growing problems as global warming, landdesertification and environmental pollution, forest carbon sequestration also increasingly drawthe attention of the world. Forest management which based on the sustainable development offorests was the operating system for the purpose of forest land use. Moreover, forestmanagement included many management measures, such as afforestation, reforestation, timberharvest, forest tending, as well as measures for the management of natural disturbance (e.g. firedisturbance, forest pests and diseases, etc.). Among which afforestation and reforestation werethe most direct and effective measures to increase the forest carbon sink capacity. JiangxiProvince has a subtropical climate, the good water and heat conditions which are suitable forforest growth. The carbon sequestration potential of Jiangxi forests is also higher. Therefore ithas an important significance to simulate the impact of the afforestation and reforestation ofJiangxi Province on the forest ecosystem carbon cycle.Based on the forestry inventory data, soil survey data, remote sensing data (modis), and theforestry statistics yearbook, This thesis simulated the process and mechanism of the impact ofthe afforestation and reforestation on the forest ecosystem carbon cycle using the Carbon BudgetModel of the Canadian Forest Sector model. By comparing the impacts of different managementmeasures on the changes in forest ecosystem carbon pools in Jiangxi Province and the resultingsource and sink changes, the study confirmed that the afforestation and reforestation had vitalfunction in maintaining the stability of forest ecosystems and enhancing the forest ecosystemfunction. The main research contents list as following:(1) Simulating and verifying the carbon stock in the status quo of forest ecosystems inJiangxi Province.(2) Studying the increase of carbon sequestration with the afforestation and reforestation ofJiangxi Province in the past few decades.(3) Predicting the future forest carbon stocks of Jiangxi under different management measures.
