BACKGROUND:Heart rate variability (HRV) is one of the most effective quantitative indicators, which reflects the autonomic nervous system function. Some modern researches have confirmed that patients with hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and other cardiovascular diseases, have their autonomic nerve damaged, which reflect in the reduction of HRV index. At the same time, HRV monitoring can not only indicate the degree of risk of disease, but also evaluate the prognosis. HRV can also be applied to assess the extent of the patients’the autonomic nervous system damage, those who with gallbladder disease, cervical disease and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. The TCM does the same conclusion. While the TCM Syndrome Type is important. From the point of the TCM Syndrome, the autonomic nerve will damages gradually worsening with the severity of the disease. Hypertension is one of cardiovascular diseases with high incidence. It is clear that the hypertension will damage not only the patients autonomic nervous system function, but also the target organ. The heavier high blood pressure complications in patients with autonomic nervedamage, the worse the prognosis will be. Hypertension and syndrome differentiation typing, analysis of HRV in hypertensive patients under different conditions may provide a basis for TCM clinical treatment and prognosis. Objective:To retrospective analysis the patients with hypertension, to explore the relationship among TCM excess syndromes, heart rate, HRV in the hypertensive population, we will increase hypertension prognosis, treatment effects for clinical judgment. Methods:To retrospectively analyze patients with essential hypertension cases who are taken incharged in International Medical Department of China-Japan Friendship hospital from October2008to September2011,we collect the Chinese medicine in patients with clinical symptoms, heart rate, HRV index, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring results and so on. We divided the patients into different groups according from whether the complications of hypertension or not, antihypertensive effect, and the actual situation dialectical groups. To compare the actual situation the distribution of syndromes, and different groups between the HRV indicator of the level and speed of heart. Statistical methods using the chi-square test of the count data, measurement data anindependent samples t-test and non-parametric tests. Results:In all cases the information collected deficiency in patients are with older ages (P<0.05); poor antihypertensive efficacy in patients with deficiency in patients with above normal (P<0.05); HRV indicators of hypertensive complications group are lower than those of simply to the hypertension group, including a number of indicators statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The patients with poor antihypertensive efficacy have lower HRV indicators than those one with antihypertensive effects, only the LF/HF of difference are statistically significant (P<0.05); Deficiency in patients with lower HRV index than empirical patients, especially in the groups which the patients elder than60years, with hypertension complications and poor antihypertensive efficacy with hypertension deficiency. The difference is more pronounced (a number of indicators P<0.05), In the three groups, heart rate also corresponding to the trend to reduce or close to the empirical group. Conclusion: The age and poor antihypertensive efficacy are the factors to promote the development of hypertensive disease. The patients with complications of hypertension and poor antihypertensive efficacy have poorer autonomic function, than those ones with simple high blood pressure and good antihypertensive efficacy. The patients elder than60years, with hypertension complications and poor antihypertensive efficacy with hypertension deficiency have not only the poorer function of the autonomic nervous, but also the reduction in heart rate, while the reason is not clear yet.
