Valerian Extract Biological Activity And Shaanxi Valerian Medicinal Materials Quality Criteria

This thesis main contains4chapters.The first chapter summarizes an overreview progress of studies on Rhizom et Radix Valeriana officinalis L. and the experimental approach of antibacterial and antioxidant activity of traditional Chinese medicine.The secand and third chapters main study on antibacterial and antioxidant activity of Valeriana officinalis L. in vitro.The forth chapter main researches on the quality standard of Rhizom et Radix Valeriana officinalis L. of Shaanxi.The general method and results describe as follows.The antibacterial action of different parts of Valeriana officinalis L. extracts in vitro was tested by tubes serial dilution method and disk diffusion method, which extracted using water and ethanol from Valeriana officinalis L.. Bacterial have Staphyloccocus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli.Fungus include Rhizopus,Aspergullus niiger and Penicillium. The results indicated that all the samples showed considerable antimicrobial activity to tested bacteria,and the volatile oil of Radix Valeriana officinalis L.have inhibitory action on the tested Fungus.Using the assay systems of spectrophotometric approach, the antioxidant activity of different parts of Valeriana officinalis L. extracts were detected in vitro, which extracted by using petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, n-butanol and water from Valeriana officinalis L.,respectively,and Vc was used as comparison sample. The results show that all the extracts had very strong scavenging activities on hydroxyl radical,especially crude water solution showed the highest activity;all the extracts had strong scavenging activities on DPPH radical, the action of ethyl acetate extracts was the strongest.Meanwhile, the above extracts had stronger deoxidizing superoxide anion radical activity,the activity of the n-butanol extrats was the strongest. And all the extracts was stronger than Vc. It was showed that Valeriana officinalis L. has stronger antioxidant activity in vitro.To establish the quality standard of Rhizom et Radix Valeriana officinalis L.of Shaanxi.Employing pharmacognostical methods,morphological and histological characters were observed.Content of the extraction,essential oil,total ash,acid-insological and moisture of5samples of Shaanxi were determined.Vatrate was chosen as the mark constituents in qualitative identification analysis of the crud drug by TLC method. The quality standard estabished in this paper is appropriate for the quality control standard of Rhizom et Radix Yaleriana officinalis L. of Shaanxi.
