| Objective: To survey the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) bodyconstitutions and syndromes in the patients with thyroid nodules, and study therelationships between constitutions and syndromes, provide the basis forpreventing and treating thyroid nodules with TCM.Methods:100patients in3hospitals including The First Affiliated Hospitalof Liaoning province university of TCM whose blood thyroid were normal, excludingfrom hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism., have been diagnosed by type-Bultrasonic waves between3,2010and2,2012. The constitutional types wereinvestigated by applying the standard in Classification and Determination ofTCM Constitutions.There are67questions in the questionnaire, containingqi-deficiency,yang-deficiency,yin-deficiency,ph1egm-dampness,dampness-heat,b1ood-stasi,qi-stagnation,normal and specialty. The patients need to answerthose questions according to feeling during the last year. The five TCM syndromeswere chosen by "TCM Internal Medicine (published by China Press of TCM)","Traditional Chinese Drug Research Clinical Guidelines for clinical research(enacted by the State Food and Drug Administration)" and related literature.The specialized TCM practitioners recorded the patient’s symptoms, andidentified each person’s TCM syndromes. Finally, deal with the findings bystatistical methods.Results: body constitution of yang-deficiency,qi-deficiency,yin-deficiency,ph1egm-dampness,dampness-heat,b1ood-stasis,qi-stagnation andnormal accounted for25%,22%,20%,9%,1%,3%,13%,7%,respective1y.Spleendeficiency and phlegm excess syndrome accounted for32%,yin deficiency of heartand liver syndrome,28%.Conclusion: The paper showed that yang-deficiency, qi-deficiency andyin-deficiency play an important role in the TCM body constitution with thyroidnodules. Spleen deficiency and phlegm excess syndrome and yin deficiency of heart and liver syndrome are also vital to thyroid nodules. The survey indicated aninherent relationship between TCM body constitution and syndrome. |
