Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Gypsum have the effect of antipyretic,sedative, and anti-inflammatory. Gypsum contains lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and other harmful elements,which derived from natural ore, may do harm to human health. Gypsum is applicated commonly as a Chinese medicine.In order to guarantee the safety of the drug, it is necessary to study the content of harmful elements in Gypsum.In this study, a systematic study of the harmful elements in the Gypsum have been studied and researched its drug safety.The research mainly includes the following aspects:Using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) and diethyldithiocarbamate carbamate silver (Ag-DDC)determined harmful elements of lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury and copper in samples of12commercially available Gypsum. The results showed that the harmful elements are detected and some of which are in excess of standard concentration.Investigated the Technology of Gypsum. Select the temperature, time, particle size, as three factors and the dissolubility of harmful element as an index, then conduct Orthogonal analysis.Determine the best processing technology:of Gypsum as heat650℃, calcined0.5h forged size into small pieces.The dissolubility of five harmful elements lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury and copper were tested in water solution and gastric intestinal juice. Results showed that the content of harmful elements were below the regulation limits. Gypsum is safe in clinical.
