Objective: In order to solve the problem of enamel demineralization of early damage-"chalk spots" for the brackets in clinical application, the ZrO2composites coated by CePO4with loading fluorine were fabricated using the mechanical milling method combined with chemical precipitation, The fracture toughness of ZrO2composites could be improved by the stress-induced phase change mechanism. The CaF2can be introduced by the mechanical ball grinding method, which could solve the problem of the plaque accumulation around brackets and reduce enamel to take off.Method: In this paper, the CePO4film can be formed on the surface of ZrO2composites by chemical co-precipitation method. Then CaF2powders were introduced into the surface of the CePO4film. The influence of CePO4concentration, solution temperature, PH, the sintering parameters on the coated impact of CePO4film on the surface of the ZrO2composites were investigated in details. At the same time, the influence of the CaF2content on the flexural strength and the bacteriostatic effect of the ZrO2matrix composites were discussed. Results: The ZrO2composites coated by CePO4with loading fluorine were fabricated using the mechanical milling method combined with chemical precipitation. The grains of above materials have a narrow and uniform grain diameter. The analysis of mechanical properties showed that ZrO2composites prepared by the above method could satisfy the strength requirements of dental materials. Conclusion: The compound ceramic specimens coated with the fluorine after high-temperature sintering had the antibacterial properties, while the good mechanical properties can be maintained, and the flexural strength can comply with the oral clinical requirements which was expected to be applied in orthodontic treatment.
