In the third stage of the development of comparative literature in the world, thecross-cultural study has been paid more and more attition. The object of the study hasturned from the same cultural circle to the different cultures. As the represent of thetheir own discourse of literary theory, there are many things in common and diffencesbetween the "invisible elegance" and "tension".As far as their similarities, Firstly, they all put emphases on the construction ofthe layer of the text language. In the term of”YinXiu”,the “Xiu” not only demand thelanguage of the poem(or other literary genres)should been vivid and interesting, butalso the artistic images should been lovely and vivid."Tension also pays specialattentions to the construction of denotation of the text, in other words, the language ofpoetry should be logical, and the link between the language of poetry and poeticimagery be identified. Secondly, they also pays attention to the construction of thedeep meaning of the text. The “YinXiu” of Liu Xie remands the writers to look formore expressive dictions and combine them to the metaphor, contrast, symbol toexpress the rich and profound meaning of connotation and pursue the rich"implicit"beauty. And "tension" also demand there are deep meanings under the"denotation" in the text, which, as Twitter said, should have a rich emotional andimplied meaning, because they can inspire readers to relalize the aesthetic potentionof poetic language from the meaning of denotation to the meaning of connotation, resulting in a rich associative meaning, that is, poetic language polysemy. Finally, the"YinXiu" and "tension" are beyond the specific literary skill and orient to the"literary".Of course, the "YinXiu" and "tension" also has different aspects. First,“YinXiu”demands the works have the characteristics of beauty. The "Xiu" require thetext has the beauty of both language and imagery.,and the "Yin" has the intrinsicsubtle beauty. However the "tension" focus on the reality of the works’content. Itdemands the content of the work is rich, conflict, which,in fact, is the generalization of the complex lives. Second, In the way to grasp the literary connotation,"YinXiu"tends to adopt the brewing sentiment, with the “imagery” to imply and realize theimplications beyond the texe. And "tension" uses "comprehensive analysis" to graspthe thrust of the text. It focuses on language analysis, with the rational participation tounderstand the complex meaning of the text. Third, In the overall style of theliterature, regardless of the motives of creative or article structure and organization, words and sentences, etc, the "YinXiu" demands the text should have natural beauty. However the "Tension" takes use of the irony, metaphor and other rhetorical devicesto make the text more meansings, so it has a strong characteristic of modification. For the causes of their heterogeneitis, we should look for them from the culturesof both the Eastern and Western cultures. First of all, they are different from the waysof thinking. The "YinXiu" is a way of thinking based on traditional "aestheticperception"of Chinese poetics, and "tension" is a way of thinking based on “scientificand empirical”of the West Poetics. Secondly, the differences between their thinkingways are due to their different philosophical foundation. The philosophy of Chinesepoetic is built on the Taoist philosophy, and the philosophy of "tension" is based on thelogocentrism. All these cause the differences between "YinXiu" and "tension".
